Great experience working with Maritime TOAR Assessments. Well worth the trip out east. I had a hard time finding someone and Captain Rooney came thru with his course. I was amazed at the real time scenarios that I was presented with in the simulator. Every assessment was carefully explained and the tug and barge we used was realistic right down to the air clutches on the throttles. Northeast Maritime Institute's school was first class. They even arranged a hotel a few blocks away with a discount if you were attending their school.

If you trying to compliment your MMC with a towing endorsement or find a way into the tug and barge industry, seek out Captain Rooney and his Maritime TOAR assessments classes held at Northeast Maritime Institute in Fairhaven MA. Tom's 30 + years of professional experience really brought out the lesser known intricacies of modern and old school tug and barge handling techniques. Couple that with Northeast Maritime's state of the art simulator facility and you'll absolutely walk away with the know how and competitive edge needed to break into or improve yourself within the industry.

My experience getting my TOAR with Captain Rooney at Maritime TOAR Assessments was terrific. Excellent instruction and location. Even though I live in Texas, if and when I may need additional endorsements, I will make the trip up to work with Captain Rooney.

I took the TOAR with Maritime TOAR assessments. I found the experience to be exactly what needed for the Coast Guard requirements to obtain my Towing endorsements. Captain Tom was extremely professional and his staff very helpful.

I took my TOAR with Captain Tom Rooney At Maritime TOAR Assessments and I thought the class was great. Tom is a great instructor with a wealth of knowledge. There was also a lot of information from Tom's own experience running tugboats that I found to be very useful. I have suggested Tom Rooney's class to a number of mariner's, as it can be hard to get the TOAR signed off on a working boat.

The course set up makes you feel like you are in a real vessel. The instructors makes the simulation as "real world" as it gets. The situations they put you through helps how you react. I'm glad I took this course it really helped understand my limits and how I have to work with them so when the time comes I can make betters decisions.
